In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the ability to leverage technology effectively has become an indispensable asset for businesses of all sizes. Recognizing the crucial role of digital literacy in empowering women entrepreneurs, EDC is working with the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC) to embark on a significant initiative – the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project on “Increasing Digital Skills and E-Commerce for ASEAN Women MSMES (IDEAS)”.

This project, funded by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF), aims to bridge the digital divide and enhance the e-business competency of ASEAN women entrepreneurs. EDC will provide localized training and tailored educational materials to equip women entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the digital economy.

 

Local Implementing Institutions

EDC plays a crucial role in implementing the project’s activities at the local level, including.

  • Identifying and recruiting women entrepreneurs to participate in the project
  • Providing localized training on e-business and digital skills
  • Developing and distributing tailored educational materials
  • Mentoring and supporting women entrepreneurs throughout the project

 

A Collaborative Effort for Empowerment

EDC is part of the Project Working Committee, as an implementing institution along with consultants for the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project from the ten ASEAN Member States, and APWINC. The success of this project hinges on the collective efforts of a diverse team of stakeholders. This collaborative approach ensures that the project’s activities are aligned with the specific needs and challenges of women entrepreneurs across the ASEAN region.

 

Key Achievements

The R&D team was launched in May to spearhead research and development initiatives, and 14 partners including us implementing institutions from AMS were selected to ensure localized implementation.

The second Project Working Committee meeting, held on September 19th, 2023, served as a platform for highlighting the project’s accomplishments in 2022-2023, including the development of comprehensive training materials and recruiting 4,002 participants for localized training in e-business and digital skills.

EDC can collaborate with APWINC and other implementing institutions to amplify the project’s impact in Lao PDR involve:

  • Providing additional resources and expertise to support the project’s implementation
  • Promoting the project to potential participants and stakeholders
  • Sharing best practices and lessons learned from other entrepreneurship development initiatives
